ADDICTED TO CRACKLE
An improved method for earwax removal
by Hiram Clearly 09/29/2009
Earwax removal is a neglected aspect of
personal hygiene. Excessive earwax can cause a large number of subtle health
problems including problems with hearing,breathing,swallowing,speech
as well as allergy symptoms such as headaches and runny nose. In
addition earwax can be a hiding place for bacteria and viruses, prolonging illness.
The following is an improved way to administer commonly found earwax remover,
containing carbamide peroxide, found at all local drugstores.
- Begin by flushing the ear with very warm water using a water syringe.
Make sure to do this gently.
Then let as much water as possible drain out, and dry the ear with a tissue or towel.
- Next add three to four drops of earwax remover.
- Add two drops of mineral oil. This can be done by dipping a Qtip
into some mineral oil and letting it drip into the ear.
- You may also want to keep the earwax remover in the ear with silicone
ear plugs.
- Do this a often as you feel necessary

It takes 3-4 days of doing this before the wax softens up enough to begin
to dissolve.
Be aware that if you have alot of compacted wax in your ear canal you may
experience SEVERE PAIN. As the earwax remover permeates the old and dry
earwax the wax expands applying pressure against the ear canal. This pain
should go away within a couple of hours and as the earwax disappears it should
not return. If your ears hurt when you go out into cold weather you can
probably expect to feel pain in the wax removal process.
Also be aware that as the crackling subsides and you think all the wax is
gone, it's probably not. There may be many layers of wax residing in your
ear canal. The older you are the more there probably is. Just as with any
other aspect of personal hygiene you should establish a routine. You should
not expect to try it once and take care of the problem.
